CLEVER FOOD
CLEVER FOOD takes you behind the scenes of the global food systems and explores how the way we eat can shape a more sustainable future. The exhibition is hosted by Experimentarium during Denmark's EU Presidency (closes december 2025).
“Should we have steaks or veggie burgers for dinner?”
You already know that your food choices matter — for both your health and the climate. But your decisions at the supermarket are just the tip of the iceberg. Underneath lies a complex global food system that plays a major role in how sustainably we actually live.
Experimentarium’s CLEVER FOOD experience features 11 fun and engaging activities that explore our food choices, the systems behind them, and the road towards a more sustainable future.
Have you ever thought about how far a tomato has travelled before it lands on your plate? Use coloured filters to trace a tomato’s journey from field to dinner table. And what about bananas, coffee, cocoa, and oranges? Dive in and discover the patterns of global food trade.
A balanced and plant-based diet is good for your body – and the planet. Feed the giant mouth with different foods and learn how each one affects your health and our shared environment.
Open drawers and cupboards, peek inside the oven and fridge – and find inspiration for more sustainable living at home. Small everyday actions can help push our food systems in a more fair and greener direction.
Take a seat at the interactive dinner table and explore new ways to share the planet’s resources more equitably.
In CLEVER FOOD, you’ll learn how we can transform Europe’s food system into one that is more regenerative, resilient, and plant-based. The aim is to spark conversations – in families, schools, workplaces, and at the supermarket – about what we eat and how we shape the systems that feed us.
CLEVER FOOD is an EU-supported travelling exhibition touring the countries holding the EU presidency. Denmark will assume the presidency on July 1st 2025, and during this period, CLEVER FOOD will be shown at Experimentarium.
CLEVER FOOD is part of the EU project CLEVERFOOD, led by the University of Copenhagen and funded by the EU’s research and innovation programme, Horizon Europe.
The project brings together a wide range of national and regional initiatives and networks, aiming to mobilise EU citizens to transform our food systems towards greater sustainability – benefitting the climate, biodiversity, and public health.
